Dear League Members and Honored Guest,
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all those who made presentations as well as everyone that attended the LEAGUE of Postmasters state convention April 20 and 21, the first in several years. We had 30 Postmasters and OICs attend as well as the District Manager Bill Mitchell and District staff members, National LEAGUE Vice-President Bob Bitner and the LEAGUE Southeast Area Coordinator Janie Holder. Many attendees raved about the presentations which included many Hot Topics such as SOX, E-career, E-learning, Safety audits and Injury compensation. The attendees had several tough questions for the District Manager and for the panel of district staff members. Discussions continued on into the night at the hospitality suite.
As the re-elected state president, I personally want to congratulate the other newly elected officials for the Alabama Chapter of the LEAGUE of Postmasters:

The District Manger advised there were 189 EAS vacancies and the positions will be filled this coming summer after reassigning EAS whose positions were eliminated. Therefore our focus as the education organization will be to welcome the new Postmasters and OICs and conduct 3-digit meetings to assist them in their new assignments. There is always a silver lining. In this case, we have an opportunity to increase our membership and to educate its new leaders.
